Ciara has released her latest single “Wassup” featuring Busta Rhymes via her independent label, Beauty Marks Entertainment. The track is written by Ciara, Rhymes, and Courtlin Jabrae, and produced by JR Rotem. ‘Wassup’ is the follow-up to Ciara’s single ‘Run it Up‘ with Boss Man Dlow, released last month.
Busta and Ciara reunited on the road this summer on the Out of This World Tour alongside Missy Elliott. Says Ciara of their new collab: “’Wassup’ is a fun flex record. It started with a play on words on what we would say when I came up in ATL. “What’s up, what’s happenin?” It’s somewhat of a Y2K moment. I’m tapping into my ATL roots! It’s a song that’s meant for you to have the ultimate fun. Busta ‘slaughtered’ the track with his classic, undeniable, and unstoppable flow. He brought pure edge and the perfect energy to the record to take it all the way to a special place!”
The two recent tracks from Ciara are her first new releases since her 2023 EP Ci Ci, which has surpassed 200 million global streams and features her hit singles “How We Roll” with Chris Brown and “Forever” with Lil Baby. “How We Roll” surged as Ciara’s highest-charting song since 2013, and hit No. 1 on the Billboard R&B Digital Song Sales Chart, while its music video amassed over 60 million YouTube views.
