Mötley Crüe have dropped the single “Dogs of War,” their first new song in five years. The track also marks the Crüe’s first release since their new guitarist John 5 joined the band, following the retirement of Mick Mars. The band last released new music for the soundtrack to their 2019 biopic The Dirt – which also included the Machine Gun Kelly collaboration, The Dirt (Est. 1981).

Bassist Nikki Sixx says of ‘Dogs of War’: “It’s always great getting back in the studio with the guys in the band. We know you’re gonna like this one.”  Frontman Vince Neil adds: “I think it’s classic Crüe, if you go back and listen to the first record [1981’s Too Fast For Love]. To me, it goes back to our roots. I think the fans are going to dig it. It’s a rock‘n’roll tune for partying, screamin’ and yellin’ along. That’s what Mötley Crüe is about anyway. It doesn’t seem like any time has passed. We’re still just a good rock ‘n’ roll band.”

“Dogs of War” was released alongside an accompanying video, which features animated, anthropomorphic doberman dogs and pigs in suits. Said Neil of the visual: “We’re the Dogs Of War, we’re the b*stards. We’re in battle with everybody, all the time.”
