Hurricane Ian, now a monster CAT 4 Hurricane is expected to impact Florida’s central west coast this afternoon before pushing north into southeast Georgia.
Once expected to blow right through Albany, the latest trends have continued to move Ian further east, meaning its anticipated impact in southwest Georgia continues to diminish.
Presently, forecasters are calling for moderately windy conditions on Thursday and Friday and only a 50/50 chance for rain on Friday.
Residents in Georgia’s southeast and north central portions should be on high alert as the storm is expected to bring damaging conditions between Thursday and Sunday.

Even in what might be the least extreme storm scenario for south Georgia, residents should anticipate power outages, and should take action to be prepared. Suggestions include purchasing bottled water, canned and other non perishable food items, obtaining propane for grills and fueling vehicles, in case there is a need to evacuate.
